Biologic Dentistry

We are members and have Master’s Degrees from the Global Academy of Biologic Dentistry (www.GABD.org). The mission of this academy is to support the principles of wound healing and to further develop biologic therapeutic procedures and products.

But what is biologic dentistry? This means every kind of treatment in your mouth should be performed according to the rules of human biology.

The main emphasis of biologic dentistry is to use natural vascular and cellular wound healing principles for reparative and /or regenerative processes. Patients' own tissues carry all the genetic information needed for biologic repair, so why not take advantage of this! This is biology at its best. Simple, minimal invasive procedures following these rules lead to the best long term results.

Professional Cleaning
Good oral hygiene and regular removal of plaque and calculus at your dentist's office is the most biologic way to keep a natural and stable environment in your mouth.

Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment

If you develop a gingivitis or periodontitis, most cases can be treated with an ultra sonic device through a minimally invasive procedure. Nowadays in most cases this enables us to avoid an operation. This is a great benefit to you, since it is such a painless method and sometimes even anaesthesia is not required.

Root Coverage

Sometimes root surfaces are exposed and may cause sensitivity and/or aesthetic discomfort. In a very gentle way, we as biologic dentists can fix this problem easily by using the adjacent tissue to carefully cover these surfaces: Your own tissue allows the best regeneration.

Dental Implantology

If a tooth or several teeth are missing, often the best solution is to place an implant. It is the most biologic option for replacing missing teeth, since you can avoid grinding healthy adjacent teeth. The one-piece implant is a copy of a natural tooth and allows perfect bone and soft tissue integration. Such an implant is inserted in a biologically correct manner during a quick and painless treatment. This biologic procedure allows you to immediately go back to normal life. Long time evidence-based research has proven that this biologic approach is extremely successful.

Sinus Lift with Compromised Bone
The best example for the advantages of following this biologic approach is the internal sinus lift: In the posterior area of the upper jaw there is often lack of bone due to the sinus. In the past, huge and painful surgery was the standard, with bone grafts taken from the chin or hip, and synthetic bone substitutes were used to augment the bone.

Nowadays, with modern, sophisticated biologic techniques such operations can be avoided. Often this can be reduced to a one-stage minimal invasive biologic procedure to painlessly insert implants.
